Quick Specs:

Sony has played with OLED before, but this is a consumer oriented OLED model and the most anticipated model of 2017. SONY Bravia KD-65A1 has got the minimalism with some crazy design. This is great if you want a TV to blend into the surroundings. Let’s check the in-depth review of SONY KD-65A1 OLED 4K TV.

DESIGN:

SONY KD-65A1 is the most sophisticated model and the TV looks like a pane of glass when seen suddenly. There is a kick stand hidden at the back. The SONY logo is also hidden, and is present at the bottom right corner and can notice when seen keenly. There are no speakers yet produces sound with high quality as Sony uses surface acoustic technology.

Having a pane of glass like the screen doesn’t mean that it is lacking aesthetic flourishes, however the back is made of glass to match the front and is supported by a fine metal frame. The TV also leans back at five degrees and the tilt is barely noticeable. SONY KD-65A1 OLED screen is designed to sit directly on your AV rack or table. This Sony A1 version measures 145cm wide. This has got the precision in everything it has. It looks stunning, but what impresses further is its innovative speaker-less sound system which is basically magic.

PERFORMANCE

Compare to other OLED TV’s from Samsung and LG which claims a brightness of 2000 nits, this is quite similar that it achieves the same level of brightness but not exactly as them. You can never feel that it has less impact coming to the picture quality. It manages to achieve a good amount of detail and saturation of images. It has got the perfect deep blacks for viewing shadow images. Sony is always been good in motion handling and the A1 is no different. Basically, the screen is the speaker .this is the acoustic surface which produces sound by the presence of actuators at the back of the screen which vibrates the screen to pump out the sound.

This technology is meant to solve the disconnection that is present between the pictures and sound. On the smart TV front, the Sony A1 will continue to use the Android TV interface, which is compatible with Google cast. Out of the box, it runs version 6.0.1 marshmallow. More importantly the SONY KD-65A1 supports the Dolby Vision variant of high dynamic range alongside the more common HDR10.The Company also says the A1 will be upgraded to be compatible with Hybrid Log-Gamma.

sony KD-65A1 Features

The OLED panel is similar to that used in the Panasonic EZ1000 series. Coming to the brightness, the A1 is effortlessly brighter than any OLED TV reviewed in 2016, including LG’s top –end signature G6.there is no back light, so there’s no light bleed or any sort of light pollution to speak of. The viewing angles aren’t an issue, either. The OLED panel can be viewed far from the center and it won’t lose out on saturation.

PROS:

·         The sound system operates at amazingly high frequencies so you cannot notice the screen vibrating

·         It has a clear, detailed sound that never hardens.

·         An upgrade from android 6 marshmallow to android 7.0 Nougat

CONS:

·         It has got a word on input lag when compared to KD 55A1.

·         High in price.

·         It disappoints the 3D fans as it does not offer this experience.

·         Uninspiring remote

VERDICT:

SONY’s first 4K OLED is a triumph. If you have the cash to splash, and you’re after a big screen with deep blacks, smooth motion, and precision lighting, you can’t get much better than SONY KD-65A1 OLED TV.
