Speakers are the backbone of any decent home theatre or gaming system. A good video system feels so incomplete without a good accompanying sound system. A good sound system has following characteristics; clarity of sound, loudness of volume and fidelity. Even if one of these is missing, the quality of experience goes down a great deal. The Intex IT-1666 N SU is a 2.1 channel surround sound setup which consists of one main subwoofer unit and two satellite speakers. It delivers crisp audio even at loud volumes without any distortions. It has a frequency response of 40Hz to 20kHz.
It has a combined peak output of 35W. The FM radio is missing in action here as is the remote control. It accepts inputs from multiple sources including the USB. It comes with a 1-year warranty. In this review, we will attempt to find out if the Intex It-1666 N SU is worth the price of Rs. 1,899/- it commands in the online stores.
The Intex IT-1666 N SU is a 2.1 channel speaker setup which is made up of one main subwoofer unit and two satellite speakers. The speakers are made of acoustic-friendly materials which deliver a rich audio performance. All the speakers appear well-made and well-designed too. The subwoofer is the brains of the system. All the controls and ports are located on the subwoofer. The subwoofer is painted in a dark-grey matte finish. The volume control knob and the bass control knob are located on a raised plastic insert placed on the face of the subwoofer. The insert is black which makes it stand out. The volume knob has LED lights embedded in it which are lit when the system is switched on.
There are no other control switches on the unit. The USB port, the SD card slot and the AUX connections are all located within a black rectangle located on the right side of the subwoofer. The satellites are painted in black and feature a matte finish. They are plain rectangles with the speakers exposed. Not very fancy, but they get their job done. All-in-all the design review of the Intex IT-1666 N SU reveals an unremarkable but functional design.
The Intex IT-1666 N SU is a 2.1 channel surround sound setup with a separate subwoofer for an enhanced bass performance. The mids, highs and lows are all rendered by the two satellites for a balanced output. The 2.1 setup allows for some degree of a surround sound effect, with the proper placement of speakers. The frequency range of the subwoofer is 40Hz ~ 200Hz and that of the satellites is 200Hz ~ 20kHz. The subwoofer has a peak output RMS of 15W and for the satellites it is 10W each. The acoustic-friendly materials help in delivering a deep, crystal-clear sound. The system accepts inputs from multiple sources. It is also Bluetooth-enabled.
It supports streaming of music over Bluetooth with hardly any latency up to a distance of 7-8 meters from the source. This eliminates the ugly tangle of cables and makes up for a tidy listening experience. The system also accepts input from multiple external sources such as the USB and AUX input. The Intex IT-1666 N SU delivers good sound quality.
