Vivo Y55s is yet on the budget smartphones whining for space in the crowded market. We have to see if it really has enough features and review at the price of Rs.12499/- to justify.
The Vivo Y55s is sleek and light which makes it easier for everyday use and the design is quite forgettable. But we would have preferred a metal back instead of plastic. The Y55s has a dedicated slot for a microSD card on the top in addition to the dual sim slot on the left. The navigation keys are not backlit and the phone also has a notification light and a fingerprint sensor.
The 3.5mm headphone jack and the USB cum power slot comes at the top. The three capacitive navigation keys are provided on the lower panel where a home button is given. The 720p resolution for a 5.2-inch screen is not necessarily bad but full HD would have been better. Since there is no protective glass, you get a screen guard preinstalled.

The generous 3GB RAM supports 4G LTE and gives the interface running smoothly and multitasking performance is decent. However, there is no getting the fact that the CPU and GPU are relatively weak when it comes to the more demanding apps and games. Vivo’s Funtouch OS 3.0 is still based on Android marshmallow and the interface takes some getting used to.
You get a few common and touch gestures and a split screen feature that lets you quickly reply to the messages without leaving the video player. The display and color reproduction is strictly ok and the loudspeaker isn’t very powerful either. The phone can play full HD videos quite easily. The best thing is the battery.
The rear 13MP camera manages decent daylight landscapes and macros. Focusing is quick, but the colors and details are a bit of and off. HDR mode helps a bit. Low light shots are ok with night modes.
You need to hold the phone pretty steady to avoid blur in this phone. Video quality is @1080p and the quality is strictly average. The front facing camera is good with flash mode. The overall camera performance is nice.
