Samsung has again come with Tizen OS and the display is a 4-inch display. The price tag of the device is very low and comes with a wide range of features. The device is named Samsung Z2. This is a dual sim phone with 4G support. The smartphone is launched recently in August 2016. Let’s get into the tech specs and review of the product. This Smartphone is a deal breaker for small china phones as it stands against them with the low budget price.
Samsung Z2 Comes with an amazing design and looks glossy on the front side. Over the top, you can see a metal earpiece and the front camera. At the bottom you can see the physical home button; this is very good in terms of feedback. There is two touch capacitive buttons which are colored. At the backside, you get a 5MP camera. And besides, there is a loud speaker. You have a very nice texture over there at the back. By which, you will get a nice grip. The phone got the light form factor and feels quite light. It is a very good phone for one hand usage. The device comes with a plastic casing which is strong and gives sturdy look.
Coming to the buttons you got the plastic buttons on the sides. To the right side comes the power button and the volume rockers on the left. This gives a hectic feedback. The USB power slot is placed elegantly at the bottom and the 3.5mm Audio jack at the top. The dimensions of the smartphone are 121.5 x 63 x 10.8 mm. The brand name Samsung comes on the back side of the device which looks. The weight of the mobile is 162 grams.
The build quality is very good. The back panel is removable and under the hood, you’ll find a battery, a two micro sim card slots and the micro SD card slot. There is no fast kind of charging available for this smartphone. The device is available in Black, Red and Gold colors.
Samsung Z2 is equipped with a 4’inch display made of TFT technology; it is a multi-touch capacitive touch screen. 256K million colors will be displayed on this smartphone. It has a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels with a pixel density of ~233 PPI. It comes with 5 points multi-touch. The screen to body ratio of the display is 59.5%. The 4-inch display is a small display which is average in viewing angles but good when compared with the price tag.
The resolution given here is quite basic. But the resolution feels sufficient enough for such a small display. The overall display quality is amazingly good and bright but the missing ambient light sensor makes the brightness settings manual which I didn’t like.
Samsung Z2 is a dual sim smartphone running on OS Tizen v2.4 powered by Quad-core 1.5 GHz Cortex-A7 processor with a chipset of Spreadtrum SC9830. The GPU is Mali-400MP2. Consisting of 1GB RAM and 8GB internal memory expandable through micro SD slot up to 200GB. It’s having a VGA front camera. It is also packed with a 5MP f/2.2 fixed focus shooter at the rear with LED flash and records video at 720p@30fps. Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth, GPS options are available for a very good and faster connectivity options.
Accelerometer sensor is present. It is provided with noise cancellation mic. It has 1500mAh Li-ion removable battery. It provides around 8 hrs of Talktime on 3G and 30 hrs of music playback. It is provided with 4G and 3G connectivity on both the Sims. Gesture mode is available. Vibration alert is available. Messaging type is SMS (threaded view), MMS, Email, Push Mail, IM and HTML browser is available.
The Samsung Z2 Smartphone comes with the Tizen OS version is 220.127.116.11. This is the latest version of the OS. You can buy this Smartphone if you are having a very strict budget. Compared to the Chinese companies the device is very good. I would say that for a low price than opting for a china phone you can go for this because the quality feels good and mostly standard. The model number of the phone is SM-Z200F.
The device comes with some of the bloatware and that can be removable with just one click. It comes with 8 GB internal storage where 41% is used by the system and the remaining is completely free which is around 4.7GB. Coming to the Ram out of 1GB RAM around 68% is used and the remaining 300MB is left. Again the phone feels responsive in initial usage but as soon as you load applications you will notice some lag. And again the major drawback of this phone is that it is not android. So the store options are very limited and you have to go through only some basic apps provided in this smartphone.
The front camera selfie is kind of dark and the rear camera pictures are ok which is ok at the price point. The rear camera is provided with a lot of options like Auto, Pro, Panorama, Beauty face, Dream shot, Night, Continuous shot, Picture Collage, Fast motion and more. The best thing in this device it supports 4G on both the Sims. It is provided with the best 4G experience you have ever seen in such a price tag. It got a very bright display with very high-quality details. The display resolution is the unsurpassed.
The Spreadtrum SC9830 quad-core processor works well while handling the applications, web browsing is awesome and the multitasking is best in this phone. This is really an amazing smartphone. You will get a Jio SIM for free with the purchase of this phone and it offers 3 months of unlimited 4G data and voice calls. The device also supports VoLTE and HD voice calling. The smartphone can be unlocked using gesture mode and the customizations are good. You can also pin the useful apps to the home screen. And swipe upwards to switch between apps. The OS bears options like Smart Tutor, Ultra Power Saving Mode, Samsungs “S” bike mode.
Samsung Z2 has an immense design, display, and intense processor. The device is awesomely impressive but I would be happier if the device comes in an Android version. The Tizen OS feels limited. But at this price range provided features and design and hardware are ok. The body is made up of plastic but hard enough to manage daily usage. The device can be handled a bit rough with the simple design.
Auto brightness feature is missing which is again a drawback with the missing ambient light sensor. The provided features give a very good performance. You can buy this at a cost of around Rs.4950/- The pixel density and the display resolution feels pleasing. The “S” bike mode is pretty impressive and it is a must for these days. FM radio is again a supplementary option. I’m really surprised to see that 4G is working in such a small device.
