Samsung Galaxy On8 mobile is a recent launch from Samsung Galaxy Company. It is a mid-segment budget android dual sim phone with 4G connectivity. It is packed with quad-core processor and IPS HD display. It is beautifully designed. Let’s get into the detail review of this device.
The Samsung Galaxy On8 mobile Comes with a Very nicely finished metal body. To the sides comes the diamond cut finish which looks amazing. At the back comes the brushed metal finish. It is actually made out of plastic but the frame of the phone is made out of metal. You have NFC available on the back panel and you have to peel off the sticker to make the NFC working. You have two separate micro sim card slots. And the phone really feels solid.
The device is sort of rebranded Samsung Galaxy J7 with the Bump in specs. Overall the phone really feels solid. On the left, you have the volume buttons which are quite sturdy. On the right comes the power lock and unlock button. There is an auto brightness sensor on the Galaxy On8. There is no fingerprint sensor here. They offer good feedback as well. The metal frame has the chamfered edges. Which makes the phone easier to hold. Bezels are thin sized. The USB power slot is located at the bottom top.
The 3.5mm Audio jack is beside the power button. The brand name is written on the back side. The speaker grill, front facing camera and the sensor are present on the top of the display. At the back, you can see the camera and the LED flash. The camera and the LED flash are available at the rear side. The navigation buttons on the display itself.
The back panel is removable and under the flap, you can find micro SD and sim card slots with the removable battery. The sound speaker is placed at the rear beside the camera. Their dimension is 151.7 x 76.0 x 7.8mm and weights around 169 grams. It is available in Gold, Black, White colors.
The Samsung Galaxy On 8 mobile consists of 5.5” super AMOLED capacitive multi-touch display with the resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels, is equivalent to the pixel density of ~401PPI displaying around 16m colors. The display looks brilliant, great color reproduction and very wide viewing angles as well. This is a 10 point multi-touch.
Samsung Galaxy On8 mobile comes with amazing specifications. It is a 5.5-inch display. The device is supplemented with 1.6 GHz octa-core processor. It comes with a GPU of Adreno 405. It runs on Android v6.0 Marshmallow. Consisting of 3GB RAM and 16GB internal memory. Expandable memory is available up to 128GB.
It consists of features like Geo-tagging, touch focus, facedetention. Having primary camera of 13MP camera with LED flash and autofocus. It has 5MP secondary camera coupled with a flash. Dual Stereo speakers are available. Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, Wi-Fi hotspot options are available.
It has a 3300mAh battery which gives a very good backup time. Sensors like Accelerometer, Light Sensor, and Proximity Sensor are available. HTML browser for browsing the internet. Provided with Gear Circle (Manager Support), Gear Fit2, Gear S2, Gear IconX. It is provided with NFC feature.
Out of 16GB internal storage, 10.4GB free space is available. The mobile is running on Android v6.0.1 Marshmallow and there is pretty much no bloat ware. It is a very clean OS. It is performing well and I didn’t notice any lag either. Now the RAM has been upgraded to 3gigs. USB OTG is also supportable. It is provided with dual app feature where you can have two whatsapps, two facebook accounts synced on your device etc. This feature is introduced from Galaxy Note 7.
The phone actually does work out quite well. I haven’t noticed any lag or further web browsing worked out great. Apps opened quickly as well. And you can see multi-tasking also did workout well. The RAM seems to be pretty decent on this mobile. New software features do make out quite a lot of sense. Including locking and hiding of the app. But it would be nice to have a fingerprint sensor too. You also get the one handed mode available. If you are looking for a smartphone with 15000, this should be under consideration. Solid built quality and the phone does seem to perform well too. The game quality is quite good when I played subway surfers but when I started playing Riptide there is a bit lag and continues frame drops. The lag is quite apparent when I played NFC most wanted.
The phone is not doing that well in terms of gaming. The On8 does have a super AMOLED display which is quite different from other on series smartphones which used to come with a TFT panel. The phone is not getting heated up but is laggy. The HD display looks very good and the touch is very good to use and responsive.
The design is also very nice. The Quadrant benchmark score of the device is 20295. The Geek bench 4 score is 611 on a single score and 2839 on the multi-core. The device is competing with the ONEPLUS 2. The AnTuTu score of the device is 42094. And the Nenamark 2 score is 59.0fps.
Talking about the rear camera. It does capture very quickly and it is able to focus relatively quickly as well. There is a bit control over the pro mode. And you also get the HDR mode too. Now the front facing flash is not exactly a flash but is always on and gets the job done.
Samsung Galaxy On8 is definitely a budget mobile with good features. It got excellent sound quality. It got remarkable battery support. It is available at a price range of Rs15K. If you are looking for a smartphone with 15000, this should be under consideration. Solid built quality and the phone does seem to perform well too.
