Micromax’s name is synonymous with Indian mobile phone market. It is a home-grown brand that has been quite successful in a crowded market. Starting out with feature phones, Micromax has now graduated to making quality smartphones at affordable prices. The Micromax Bolt Q326 Plus is one of the perfect representatives of Micromax phones. There are no extra features like Gorilla Glass protection or a fingerprint scanner and neither does it work on 4G networks. It is a beginner’s smartphone which carries all the basic functions of a smartphone without overwhelming the user with a plethora of mostly useless features. The Micromax Bolt Q326 Plus is available at a price of Rs. 2,899/- in online stores. Let us take a detailed review on this device.
The Micromax Bolt Q326 Plus is an all-plastic smartphone. This is not necessarily bad as it keeps the weight down and the price low. The removable back panel is finished with a faux brushed metal look. It has a smooth finish. There is the cool Micromax logo in the middle, offset slightly to the top. The round camera cut-out sits above the logo in the center flanked by the LED flash on the right side and the speaker grill on the left side. The speaker grill is made of a series of drilled holes arranged in a rectangular pattern. The camera cut-out protrudes slightly from the body.
At the front, the 4.0-inch display takes up most of the space. At the top of the display is the selfie camera beside the earpiece. Towards the bottom is the three capacitive Android navigation keys in the usual setup. This phone looks like any other smartphone out there which is not necessarily a bad thing because it looks more expensive than it actually is.
The Micromax Bolt Q326 Plus sports a middling 4.0-inch display which outputs at a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels giving it a pixel density of 234 PPI. This is an adequately pixel-dense display with good colour saturation and decent viewing angles. The display does its job efficiently and unobtrusively.
The display is bright enough indoors. Outdoors it becomes a bit difficult to see the display, though not impossible. All-in-all this is a decent display and justifies its inclusion on this phone.
The Micromax Bolt Q326 Plus features a 5.0 megapixels camera with a LED flash. Under ideal lighting conditions with plenty of light available, the pictures turn out well-lit and capture a decent amount of details. Under low-light conditions, the colours appear washed-out with noise creeping in even when using the flash. Thankfully, there are little to none processing artifacts in low-light pictures.
The front camera is 0.3 megapixels and doesn’t qualify as a selfie camera. The VGA resolution does not have enough canvas to click good selfies. It is useful for the occasional video calls.
The Micromax Bolt Q326 Plus is powered by a MediaTek MT6582 quad-core processor running at 1.3 GHz. It is supported by 1GB of RAM along with 8GB internal storage which can be increased up to 32GB with the help of a microSD card. The phone accepts micro-SIM in both the dual SIM slots. Only the SIM 1 has 3G support though, SIM 2 runs on the 2G network.
The Micromax Bolt Q326 plus Smartphone runs Android 5.0 Lollipop. The phone feels fast enough for everyday tasks. But there are minor UI lags and random freezes sometimes thanks to the 1GB RAM. Clearing all the apps from the memory usually solves the issue. The 1400 mAh battery powers the phone for up to 4 hours and gives it the stamina of 150 hours of standby time. The phone also features Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, FM radio and A-GPS. Sensors on the phone include proximity sensor and accelerometer.
