Blackberry KeyOne is another impressive android phone from the blackberry having a manual keyboard with fingerprint sensor. The Blackberry KeyOne is available at a price of just Rs 39,000/-
On the first impression, it just looks like the Blackberry passport. Let’s start with the design and built quality. On the right edge it packs the hybrid sim slot, special blackberry button and the volume rocker. The power button resides on the left. Moving to the back it has the camera which is pretty big. And beside that you have the dual tone flash. The front facing camera and some sensors are on the top of the display. Here comes the special integrated manual keyboard which offers great flexibility.
It has the touch navigation buttons above the keyboard which felt awkward to me. On the bottom you have two vents where one is the speaker and the other one is the mic. And the fingerprint scanner is the available on the space bar. At the bottom comes the charging slot and above there is a 3.5mm audio jack. At the back you will find a 3505mAh battery. The back has a textured finish and the black berry logo resides there.
The Blackberry KeyOne is supplemented with a 4.5” scratch-resistant display. This is a multi-capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 1080 x 1620 pixels. It has gorilla glass 4 protection
Blackberry KeyOne is powered by snapdragon 625 octa core processor with Adreno 506 graphic card. It is provided with a 3GB of RAM. The phone packs 64GB of internal storage that can be expanded up to 128GB via microSD card. The Blackberry KeyOne packs a 12-megapixel primary camera on the rear and an 8-megapixel front shooter for selfies.
The device runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat and is powered by a 3505mAh battery. Fingerprint scanner. This is a dual SIM (GSM and GSM) smartphone. It has NFC feature. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, FM, 3G and 4G. Sensors on the phone include Compass Magnetometer, Proximity sensor, Accelerometer and Gyroscope.
Other than the design. You will feel the Blackberry KeyOne to be typical android. The launcher provided id quite interesting. There are three dots below the apps which can be launched there itself when swiped upwards. You can also long press the alphabet to launch particular apps like “T” for twitter. You can also assign it for short press. It took some time to adjust to the device and controls.
But to the end it is completely worth it. It is a traditional android phone where you can download apps from the play store. The multitasking layout is quite different. Talking about the performance details, the display is good with the resolution given. The device is running on Android v7.1.1 and this is the good thing and the device is also having a security update which blackberry is gonna be proactive. The black colored piece available is again a limited edition. Out of 64GB you get around 17GB free space.
I am also impressed about the battery life which is easily around 1½ day. The keyboard you get is really interesting and you will find lot of space on the display. And I appreciate this physical keyboard. I also like the fact that it has quick keys. The key on the right can be mapped to any app or function and the key is called the convenience key.
Blackberry KeyOne packs a 12MP camera which has tap to focus. The pictures look nice with the rear camera. It is just like a midrange phone in the camera aspect. As we know the blackberry is never made for camera. But looks like this one is actually having a good camera.
ON THE GOOD SIDE OF THE DEVICE WE HAVE:
ü A nice display
ü Wonderful physical keyboard
ü Impressive display and shortcut keys
ü Impressive battery
ON THE BAD SIDE OF THE DEVICE:
û Camera is a regular one which you will find in the budget phones.
